Theisen hit .500 in two games, Smith hit .545 in three games over the weekend
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Two Eastern Florida State College spring athletes had big opening weekends and are the Orlando Health Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28.
Softball player Brooke Theisen and baseball player Kevin Smith helped their teams to unbeaten opening weekends.
Theisen hit .500 in two games for the softball team, going 3-for-6. The sophomore third baseman had a couple of doubles, drove in four runs, and scored twice.
Theisen also stole two bases for the Titans.
Smith hit .545 in three games over the weekend with a double and a triple. The centerfielder from St. Lucie scored four times, drove in two runs, and stole three bases in the opening weekend series.
Both the softball and baseball teams will be home this weekend. The baseball team will play Indian River State College on Friday and Atlantis on Saturday.
Both games will begin at 1 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. The softball team’s home opener will be Saturday with the doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
