Eastern Florida State Women’s Basketball Player Amelia Hassett Named Region 8 Player of the Week

Hassett is averaging 19.5 pts, 13.3 rebounds per game

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball player Amelia Hassett is the NJCAA Region 8 Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Hassett averaged 24 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks in two games last week to win the state award for the third time this season.

The sophomore from Albury New South Wales, Australia had 27 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks against Florida Southwestern and then had 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks against St. Petersburg.

The forward now has 18 double-doubles on the season which ties the women’s basketball program record held by Trudy Walker and Rapuluchi Ngorka.

For the season, Hassett is averaging 19.5 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

The 13.3 rebounds lead Region 8 as does her 42.3 3-point shooting percentage. The three times match Ngorka, who won the award three times in 2021-22.
