BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – For the third straight season, the Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team will play in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

The Titans are 27-4 this season and went 21-0 in the Citrus Conference, making it to the semifinals of the FCSAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

“It has been unbelievable; we had a rough start to our season and it humbled us in a lot of ways. Coming off of last year, we were coming off a high and in junior college, you have to rebuild your culture every year we have 11 new players so just setting the tone of who we are and what we are about, we had to lock in early in the season and after that we won 26 really incredible straight, we didn’t do that last year and we had a great season last year,” Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball coach MJ Baker said.

“I am really proud of how this team responded and how they handled the beginning of the season.”

The sophomore class has cut down three separate nets and finished their conference careers without a loss. Forward Amelia Hassett has set the record for most double-doubles in a season with 22 and was named both the Citrus Conference and FCSAA Player of the Year. Teammate Kristiana Kulackovska was named to the all-FCSAA Team.

Rosa Redondo Sorribes and Martina Galvez Narro have also helped the program reach new heights.

“Our sophomore class is incredible, we are going to miss them, and I am thankful we have more time with them,” Baker said.

“We have four transfers that came in that really added a lot to our team and Rosa and KK have been here three years, Amelia and Martina have been here for two years and I am just so thankful for them because they really do deserve this. At the end of the day, people ride talent a lot and we are pretty talented but at the end of the day what makes us special is how hard they work, how they buy in and how they execute at another level and that separates good from great and our sophomores really set that tone.”

This year’s team won 26 games in a row before the loss in the semifinals and were given an at-large bid to the national tournament and are the No. 10 seed and will face No. 23 North Dakota SCS in the first round on Tuesday at the Wyoming Ford Center in Casper, Wyoming.

The Titans have had success in the national tournament in their first two appearances, reaching the Elite Eight two years ago and the Final Four last season.

Tuesday’s tournament opener will be shown live online on ESPN+ with the championship game being aired live on ESPNU.
