FHP: Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Crash on I-95 in Melbourne, Entered into Path of Two Semi-Tractor Trucks

Florida Higway Patrol Troopers are on-scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 7:58 a.m. Monday. According to FHP, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-95 in the area of mile marker 90 in Melbourne, and traffic was diverted from the Pineda Causeway exit after the crash in which a pedestrian entered the path of two semi-tractor trucks on I-95.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Higway Patrol Troopers are on-scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 7:58 a.m. Monday.

According to FHP, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-95 in the area of mile marker 90 in Melbourne, and traffic was diverted from the Pineda Causeway exit after the crash in which a pedestrian entered the path of two semi-tractor trucks on I-95.

A FHP spokesperson said the crash involved a 2023 semi-truck with trailer and 2020 semi-truck with trailer.

“Preliminary evidences shows both vehicles were traveling northbound on I-95,” said the FHP spokesperson.

“A pedestrian entered the northbound lanes in their direct path. As a result, both vehicles struck the pedestrian, a 57-year-old male from New York who was pronounced deceased on-scene.”

The truck drivers, a 44-year-old male from Jacksonville and a 50-year-old male from Port Saint Lucie were not injured.

“We currently only have preliminary information as our Traffic Homicide Investigators are on-scene investigating this fatal collision,” said a FHP spokesperson.

“There is current roadblock for the northbound lanes on I-95. Traffic is being diverted at mile marker 188 (Pineda Causeway).”
