BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Florida League of Cities has announced the recipients of the 2024 Home Rule Hero Award, including 11 dedicated officials from Brevard County.
These officials have been recognized for their outstanding commitment to protecting and advancing home rule – the ability for local governments to make decisions on behalf of their communities.
The following Brevard County officials have been named as recipients of the 2024 Home Rule Hero Award:
■ Deputy Mayor Diana Adams, City of West Melbourne
■ Manny Anon, City Attorney, City of Melbourne
■ Courtney Barker, City Manager, City of Satellite Beach
■ Mayor Michael Blake, City of Cocoa
■ Brenda Fettrow, City Manager, City of Rockledge
■ Sue Frank, City Clerk, City of Indian Harbour Beach
■ Councilwoman Mindy Gibson, City of Satellite Beach
■ Deputy Mayor Stu Glass, Town of Indialantic
■ Councilmember Yvonne Minus, City of Melbourne
■ Mayor Steve Osmer, City of Satellite Beach
■ Suzanne Sherman, City Manager, City of Palm Bay
■ Councilmember Sarah Stoeckel, City of Titusville
These individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advocating for the needs of their communities at the local level. Their dedication to upholding the principles of home rule empowers cities and towns across Brevard County to govern effectively and efficiently.
“The dedication and effort of local officials who tirelessly advocated for local decision-making was a difference-maker this legislative session,” said FLC Chief of Legislative Affairs Casey Cook.
