BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech forward Elias Martin earned Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Panthers’ final week of the regular season.

This is the third Defensive Player of the Week honors for Martin this season and the fourth of his career.

On Wednesday in a tightly contested game against Eckerd, Martin matched a career and season-high six blocks in a game where the Panthers held the Tritons 11 points under their season average.

Martin continued his presence in the paint on Saturday against Tampa. The senior blocked four shots and recorded one steal in a dominant 100-79 win over the Spartans.

Martin now leads the league in total blocks (75) and is second in blocks per game (2.8), both of which are also single-season career highs for the senior.

His 75 blocks this season are also the third most in a single season in Florida Tech history.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, March 5 when they take on Embry-Riddle on the road for the quarterfinal round of the SSC Tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Fla.
