BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Akos Hajagos of the Florida Tech men’s swimming team and Rae Ann Dressel of the Florida Tech women’s swimming team were named the Sunshine State Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week for the Week of November 6-12.

This is Hajagos second SSC Men’s Swimmer of the Week award this season and his second all-time.

For Dressel, it is her first-ever SSC Women’s Swimmer of the Week Award.

On Wednesday, November 8th the Florida Tech Panthers competed in Fort Pierce, Florida against Indian River State, the current #1 ranked team in the NJCAA and reigning national champions, and Keiser, the current #1 ranked team in the NAIA and reigning national champions, at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.

Hajagos earned this week’s conference award as he continued his sensational freshman campaign, taking the top spot in the 200 Free with a 1:39.92 time that was nearly two seconds ahead of the closest competitor.

The win was Hajagos’ fifth individual win of the season. The Budapest, Hungarian native also recorded a fourth-place finish in the men’s 100-yard IM with a time of 52.49. He also competed in the 800 Medley with the team of himself, Jay Jay Fonnotto Connor Orth, and Luke Altmann who finished in fourth place finish, thanks to a time of 7:43.58.

Rae Ann Dressel was rewarded this week’s SSC Women’s Swimmer of the Week award with a second-place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:59.55. the University of Las Vegas, Nevada transfer and Wenatchee, Wash.

Native also swam in the women’s 100 Yard Backstroke and recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:09.20. She also helped the team of herself, Debora Xavier, Harper Powell, and Brieleigh Wescott finish third in the women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
