Florida Tech Places 69 Student-Athletes on Sunshine State Conference Fall Honor Roll

23 earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the fall semester

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference announced its 2023 Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll on Tuesday, and 69 Florida Tech scholar-athletes were recognized for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

Of the 69 scholar-athletes, 23 earned a perfect 4.00 grade-point average during the 2023 fall semester.

Florida Tech posted a 3.33 department GPA, with every team earning at least a 3.0 GPA or higher in the fall semester.

A total of 836 scholar-athletes have been named to the 2023 Fall Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Additionally, 201 scholar-athletes carried a perfect 4.00 GPA for the fall semester.

This year’s total breaks the previous record number of 813 named to the 2022 Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll. It is the eleventh consecutive record-breaking fall for the SSC Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the Fall SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, a scholar-athlete must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball were eligible for the fall honor roll.

Having won 122 Division II National Championships since the league was founded in 1975, SSC scholar-athletes have proven successful in competition in addition to the classroom. SSC scholar-athletes recently achieved an NCAA Division II record 89-percent Academic Success Rate (ASR) following the 2022-23 academic year. The SSC ranks first among NCAA Division II conferences in ASR and has never fallen below second in the metric’s 17-year history.
