Florida Tech Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 3 in Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll

Panthers return 18 women from last year's team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s soccer team checked in at No. 3 after the Sunshine State Conference coaches released their annual preseason poll.

The Panthers return 18 women from last year’s squad that saw Florida Tech reach the SSC Championship game for the second consecutive season.

Among the returners are All-South Region defender JoJo Michaels and All-SSC defender Kajsa Ekstrom. All-SSC midfielder Marem Ndiongue also returns as the leading scorer after she totaled five goals and notched three assists in 2022.

Nova Southeastern is expected to finish first after the team totaled 95 points with five first-place votes. The 2022 tournament champions, Embry-Riddle, are in second with 91 points and three first-place votes.

Florida Tech tallied 76 points to earn the third position. The 2022 regular season champions, Florida Southern, follow in the fourth position with 74 points and three first-place votes. Saint Leo rounds out the top five with 61 total points.

Barry sits in the middle of the poll with 53 points and is followed by Tampa (46) and Rollins (37). Eckerd (31), Lynn (30), and Palm Beach Atlantic (11) hold the final three positions in the rankings.

Head Coach Ryan Moon and the rest of the Panthers open the 2023 season on the road on Aug. 31 when they take on Auburn-Montgomery. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET) in Montgomery, Ala.
