Haridopolos files to replace retiring Congressman Bill Posey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Republican Mike Haridopolos (R-Indian Harbour Beach) declared his candidacy for the United States Congress District 8 to succeed retiring Congressman Bill Posey.
Haridopolos previously served as President of the Florida Senate and currently runs a successful business and political consulting company.
“I wish to thank our incredible Congressman Bill Posey for his faithful service to our community, state, and nation. I will work every day to live up to his legacy of service and serve the people of District 8 with integrity and honor,” Haridopolos said.
“Our nation is facing unprecedented problems here at home and overseas. Our Southern Border is in chaos. Illegal immigration is out of control. Higher prices are crushing our families and killing the American dream. It’s a mess, and we need leaders in Congress to stand up and fix it,” Haridopolos said.
“I am no stranger to navigating legislative discord to get results for the people, and I pledge to bring my private sector and leadership experience to Washington DC to get the job done. As your Congressman, I will stand with President Trump and his America First Agenda,” Haridopolos said.
Haridopolos is a successful businessman who lives in Indian Harbour Beach Florida with his wife Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos and their three children.
He is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives (2000-2003) and State Senate (2003-2012). He was elected President of the Senate by his colleagues from 2010-2012.
He also co-authored the book, The Modern Republican Party of Florida, published in 2019. He continues to appear regularly on Fox 35 Orlando and is active in US, Florida and local politics, helping Republicans win elections.
Three other candidates are on the Republican ballot, including John Hearton of Satellite Beach and Joe Babits of Vero Beach. Democratic candidates on the ballot are Sandy Kennedy of Cocoa and Daniel McDow of West Melbourne.
Florida Congressional District 8 includes Brevard, Indian River, and portions of Orange Counties. The district has a voter registration makeup of 46% Republican, 26% Democrat, and 28% Other.
