BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Former women’s basketball player, Aiste Vaitekunaite will continue her playing career after she signed a professional contract with Bursa Uludağ of the Turkish Women’s Basketball League.
“Since I was a kid, it’s always been a dream of mine to play professionally,” said Vaitekunaite after her signing. “I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to start my professional career.”
Bursa Uludağ is a professional women’s basketball team based in Bursa, Turkey. The team was founded in 1994 and has become one of the most successful teams in Turkey. Bursa Uludağ competes in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League, which is the top-tier women’s basketball league in Turkey.
“One of her goals was to go back to Europe and play professionally after graduation,” said Florida Tech head coach John Reynolds. “I am happy that her hard work and commitment to the game has provided Aiste this opportunity.”
“She joins a select group of Florida Tech women’s basketball players that have continued to compete professionally in Europe.”
Vaitekunaite wrapped up her career with Florida Tech after three seasons in which she appeared in 56 games with 44 starts. She contributed 473 points, 279 rebounds, and 45 blocks. Her 80.3% shooting at the free-throw line is fourth best in program history.
During the 2022-23 season with Florida Tech, Vaitekunaite appeared in 22 games with 17 starts. She led the team with 99 rebounds and 17 blocks.
