Mitchell will have one year of eligibility left
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Former Rockledge Raiders running back Jalen Mitchell placed his name in the transfer portal on Wednesday after spending one year at UConn where he will have one year of eligibility.
The move is the second time Mitchell placed his name in the transfer portal after he spent three years with the Louisville Cardinals from 2019-2022 before he transferred to UConn.
Mitchell, a Brevard County native, graduated from Rockledge High School in 2019 where he finished with 2,805 career all-purpose yards and 27 total touchdowns.
As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Mitchell finished third on the team in rushing with 347 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 10 games. He averaged a team-high 6.7 yards per carry and also caught four passes for 33 yards coming out of the backfield.
He became a big part of the offense late in the season for Louisville in 2020, beginning with a seven carry, 76-yard performance versus Virginia, which included a run of 50 yards.
The following year in 2021 he ran for a total of 722 yards and five touchdowns for the Cardinals.
