The Melbourne Police Department recently held a Swearing-In and Promotion Ceremony at the Eau Gallie Civic Center. BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department recently held a Swearing-In and Promotion Ceremony at the Eau Gallie Civic Center.

MPD welcomed nine new Officers to its family, including Officer Yennis Diaz, Officer Brittany Brown, Officer Derick Espinoza, Officer Avery Forish, Officer Martyn Jones,
Officer Titus McIntosh, Officer Vincent Schaad, Officer Brett Stake and Officer Daniel Zwolensky.

Congratulations is also in order to MPD’s newly promoted members, including Commander Scott Mostert, Lieutenant Benjamin Delaney, Lieutenant Ian Mitchell,
Sergeant David Helms, Sergeant Garry Hibbs, Sergeant Nicole Ishikawa and Sergeant Amy Perez.

This means that probationary police officers who are qualifying veterans and were Florida LEO certified after January 11, 2007, may be eligible for additional monthly benefits. Police Officer Trainee (Sponsorship)

The Melbourne Police Department offers sponsorships for the police academy. This means having your police academy paid for, receiving $18.83 an hour, obtaining City of Melbourne benefits, and receiving a $2,500 signing bonus upon completion of the academy.

Salary

The Melbourne Police Department offers a salary competitive with other local law enforcement agencies. The current starting salary for Patrol Officers is $48,214.40 with signing bonus of $10,000 for officers who are already certified. The city also provides a 4% night shift differential pay, as well as incentive pay for specialty teams.

Maximum salary for a police officer is a maximum of $71,302. Certified law enforcement officers from any state may be eligible for a higher starting pay based on your level of experience. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive bonus to help with relocation to Brevard County.
