BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – You know in Brevard County it’s a simple rule…if you act like a butt you get treated like a butt but unfortunately some people just have to learn the hard way.

Take Tracy Panero for example who decided it was a bright idea to refuse to come out of her house in Merritt Island when Deputies from our East Precinct went to arrest her on an active arrest warrant for two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest without Violence, and Trespassing in a Structure or Conveyance.

Now not only was she not smart enough to give herself up, but she also decided to taunt the Deputies by refusing to come outside, cursing at them, and even shooting them birds and suggesting that they couldn’t do anything about it.

Well clearly she didn’t get the memo that this is Brevard County and not Orlando, Los Angeles, New York, or Seattle, where they tolerate that bull crap.

As you might imagine, since Deputies had determined that she was physically inside the residence and verified the arrest warrant we did what we do here in Brevard County…we broke the windows out of the door and then used a sledgehammer to break it down so we could drag her out in the front yard in handcuffs. That’s right, we didn’t turn a blind eye to her warrant like they do in some other places, but instead we tore some stuff up to get to her and took her to jail which is exactly where she belongs!!

Folks, crime will rise to the level a community will tolerate and in Brevard County we have zero tolerance for crime and even less for criminals.

Panero was given a free ride to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” on a “No Bond” status per the instructions of the warrant where she had reservations for a room with no view for two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest without Violence, and Trespassing in a Structure or Conveyance.

Also Panero got a free “I Messed Around and Found Out” T-shirt at check-in for not being smart enough to open the door as she was going to jail no matter what.

On a bright spot we didn’t want to leave the house unsecured in her absence so one of our Deputies is apparently a Master Carpenter as he closed the door and then nailed a book case to the wall behind it to secure the home. Actually, I think it turned out quite nice and might be a new catchy trend for future home builders.

Another great job by our Deputies and another perfect example of how we don’t tolerate crime or criminals in our community. And they wonder why the crime rate is up in other parts of the country but is down by 52% here in Brevard.
