OBITUARY: Irene Jaqueline Ditty, 91, Passed Away at Home Peacefully, Managed Cocoa Beach Landmark Satellite Motel

Irene had a gift for hospitality and cooking and delighted in hosting family and friends

Irene Jaqueline Ditty (née Padden) died from natural causes in her home on January 8, 2024, in Merritt Island, FL. She was 91. The Ditty’s moved to Cocoa, FL where Rodney worked as a machinist foreman and Irene managed a Cocoa Beach landmark, the Satellite Motel.

Irene Ditty was born on March 24, 1932, in Passaic County, NJ to her parents, Thomas and Martha Padden. There she met and married Rodney Ditty in 1951. Leaving her lifelong home the Ditty’s moved to Cocoa, FL where Rodney worked as a machinist foreman and Irene managed a Cocoa Beach landmark, the Satellite Motel.

After retiring she dedicated her remaining time to caring for her grandchildren, and after becoming a Christian, teaching Sunday School at her local church.
Irene had a gift for hospitality and cooking and delighted in hosting family and friends.

She also had an amazing connection with animals, tending to dogs, stray cats, birds, squirrels and, even wild blue jays. More importantly, she had a passion for sharing and teaching young children about Jesus.

Mrs. Ditty is survived by her sister Anne Beale and her husband Richie; her eldest daughter and son-in-law, Patsi and Mike Green; her daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Ric Cazessus and her son Bryan Ditty; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; her sister Lourdes and her brothers, John, Tommy, and Anthony.

A memorial for Mrs. Ditty will occur on January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 2400 South Washington Avenue in Titusville, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Irene’s life. Later Mrs.

Ditty and her husband, Rodney, will be interned at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Farrington House, the assisted living facility where Irene happily lived for her last years. The Farrington House is not a 501(c)(3) charity, but they treated Irene as family for years.
