Retired in 1989 After 30 years of teaching in Brevard

Anne Hayes Walters was born in Pike County, Alabama January 25, 1931 to William Howell Hayes and Bessie Whitehead Hayes.Anne Hayes Walters was born in Pike County, Alabama January 25, 1931 to William Howell Hayes and Bessie Whitehead Hayes. In 1959 she moved to Brevard County where she taught at Merritt Island Elementary School now called MILA Elementary School. After 30 years of teaching in Brevard County she retired in 1989.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Anne Hayes Walters was born in Pike County, Alabama January 25, 1931 to William Howell Hayes and Bessie Whitehead Hayes.

At 16, Anne graduated from high school and went to Troy Teacher College now Troy University to study elementary education.

Anne graduated at 19 years old in 1950 with a bachelor of education and married Robert Coleman Walters shortly after graduating. Anne had four children Robert William Walters (Marleen Marie Walters), Nancy Diana Sumpter, (Randall Scott Sumpter), Gail Anne Chapman, (Robert Glenn Chapman) deceased.

In 1965 Anne received her Masters degree in Elementary Education. In 1959 everyone moved to Brevard County where she taught at Merritt Island Elementary School now called MILA Elementary School.

After 30 years of teaching in Brevard County she retired in 1989.

Anne loved to read and working in the yard growing Tomatoes and landscaping her yard. She also loved her pet. Family was very important to her with lots of kin folk in Brevard county.

Deceased brothers are Bill Hayes and Don Hayes, and living on Merritt Island is Paul Hayes. Her sisters are Jean Jump of Dallas, Texas and Cynthia Franklin of Merritt Island.
