OBITUARY: Paul Chartier, 79, of Melbourne Passed Away from Cancer Jan. 25

Paul Chartier, 79, of Melbourne, Florida passed away from terminal cancer on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Holmes Regional Medical Center. At the age of 18, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Paul Chartier, 79, of Melbourne, Florida passed away from terminal cancer on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

He was born on August, 18, 1944 in Acushnet, Massachusetts, son of the late Ledwina and Paul Irenee Chartier.

At the age of 18, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

He valued this service and attained the rank of PVT E-1. As part of this service, he was a sharpshooter and was awarded the Parachutist badge.

Paul loved his family and often talked about how he longed to be with his late wife and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Paul enjoyed many hobbies and was a true Jack of all trades.

His passion for woodworking filled his life with creativity and satisfaction. His artistic talents extended beyond the workshop, encompassing painting, photography, and any medium that allowed him to express his unique vision.

While we grieve his absence in this life, we find solace in the cherished memories he leaves behind and the hope of one day being reunited with him in eternity.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Paul Irenee Chartier; his mother Ledwina Blackwelder; step father Perry Blackwelder; his brother, Milan Yancey, and his wife, Jane Chartier.

Paul is survived by four children, Tanya McVeigh, Janine Newberry, Paul G. Chartier and Aarion Chartier and brother Ronald Hollerand, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

There will be a graveside service only, to be held at 1:30 pm, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, located at 5525 US-1, Mims, Florida 32754. Guests are to arrive at 1:15 pm at the Administration Building, parking in Lane C. Family and friends will be guided to the committal shelter.

His United States Army honors will begin promptly at 1:30 pm
