PALM BAY POLICE: Barricaded Armed Man Killed After Opening Fire On SWAT Team Members

Palm Bay police negotiators attempted to communicate with the yet-to-be identified armed man

Palm Bay police officials reported that a barricaded armed man was killed after opening fire on SWAT team members about 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. According to police, officers were called about a domestic disturbance, and Palm Bay Police SWAT team members were then called to the scene and cordoned off the area in the 700 block of Scotia Avenue after the armed man was pointing a firearm at his family members. Palm Bay police negotiators attempted to communicate with the yet-to-be identified armed man to convince him to surrender.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police officials reported that a barricaded armed man was killed after opening fire on SWAT team members about 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

According to police, officers were called about a domestic disturbance, and Palm Bay Police SWAT team members were then called to the scene and cordoned off the area in the 700 block of Scotia Avenue after the armed man was pointing a firearm at his family members.

Palm Bay police negotiators attempted to communicate with the yet-to-be identified armed man to convince him to surrender.

According to police, after an hours-long stand-off, the armed man fired at the officers and SWAT team members returned fire. No other injuries were reported.

As is customary, SWAT team officers were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
