SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Strait Takes Serial Drunk Driver Off the Road

IVEY: Perp has been arrested five times for DUI

SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Strait observed Trevor Parker McNutt, above, lose control of his vehicle near the exit ramp of I-95 and SR 5-A in north Brevard County. As Deputy Strait activated his blue lights and approached the vehicle, McNutt bailed from the vehicle and fled into the woods like the little coward he is. And just in case we couldn’t figure out who fled from the vehicle, McNutt helped us out by leaving behind his wallet and Florida ID Card so there would be no question about who we were looking for. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While you were sleeping, Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Strait was out peacekeeping by taking a dangerous drunk off our roadways.

Yes that’s right, I called him a drunk, so before some bleeding heart on here gets their underpants all twisted, think about the fact that this irresponsible individual has now been arrested for the fifth time for DUI.

As you think about the insanity of that, also think about how many lives this person has put in jeopardy because he can’t act responsibly!

Think about how many entire families traveling along our roadways just minding their own business and enjoying life could have been killed because this guy simply doesn’t care.

Well recently Deputy Ben Strait cared as he observed Trevor Parker McNutt lose control of his vehicle near the exit ramp of I-95 and SR 5-A in north Brevard County.

Well, as you might imagine, other Deputies soon arrived on the scene and established a perimeter because McNutt apparently wasn’t smart enough to know that in Brevard County, if you run from us you are only going to jail tired and possibly with some stitches after one of our dogs takes a bite out of crime!!

When K-9 Deputy Kenrick Walters arrived on scene with his dog Kovu things got real for McNutt because as soon as they entered the woods he was quickly located and then stuffed and cuffed in the back of a patrol car for his ride to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge!”

McNutt was extremely intoxicated and Deputy Strait soon learned that he had four prior DUI arrests and is a Habitual Traffic Offender with no valid driver’s license.

McNutt was booked on charges of Felony Driving While License Suspended-Habitual Offender, DUI, Refusal to Submit to Breath Test, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.

Folks I have zero sympathy for someone who gets behind the wheel of a car after getting intoxicated!! There is absolutely no excuse that makes this type of action acceptable and absolutely no way to give back to families and loved ones the lives that are taken each year by drunks on our roadways. Take a taxi, an Uber, a Lyft, or a freaking nap, but stay off our roadways and stop drinking and driving.

Great Job Ben and our entire team for getting this guy off our roads and behind bars where he belongs!
