cause of fatal fire is under investigation
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – One person, and two cats, died in a residential structure fire in Titusville at 1627 Palmetto Street Friday morning, according to the Titusville Fire Department.
Titusville Fire Department crews, with assistance of Brevard County Fire Rescue units, were dispatched to the structure Fire at 1627 Palmetto Street at approximately 3:18 a.m. Friday morning.
According to a Titusville Fire Department spokesperson, on arrival, crews were met with a single-story home with fire through the roof, with approximately 50 percent involvement.
Reports also came in that there may possibly be two people inside, with a car noted in the driveway. Crews stretched a hose line while a 360 of the building was performed.
“As crews were working on forcing entry through the front door, additional personnel made entry through a bedroom window and isolated the room by closing the door,” said the TFD spokesperson. “After a quick search, a victim was located on the bed.”
Simultaneously water had been applied to the fire and knocked down, the victim was removed from the home, but the lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, according to the TFD spokesperson, two cats also died in the blaze. There were no other injuries reported.
An investigator from the Bureau of Fire, Arson & Explosives Investigations responded to the scene and the cause is under investigation, along with the Titusville Police Department.
