BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – U.S. Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 21,000-square-foot multi-mission facility.
The facility provides improved operational capabilities for Coast Guard personnel. The facility includes berthing, dining, a training room, workshops, a boat bay, and a fitness room.
MSU Port Canaveral personnel carry out port security, marine safety, search and rescue, and waterways management missions, along with environmental response and disaster assistance operations.
They are responsible for 857 miles of navigable waterways throughout central Florida and its east coast.
Station Port Canaveral’s missions include search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, boating safety, and security.
Their area of responsibility includes over 57 miles offshore including north of Haulover Canal, south to Malabar, the Indian River, and Banana River.
“This new building represents the Coast Guard’s commitment to support Port Canaveral’s exponential growth!” said a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson.
