BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Hawks girl’s soccer team is set to face the East Lake Eagles in the FHSAA Class 6A District 7 State Semifinals in Deland on Wednesday.
The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. and will be played at Spec Martin Stadium in Deland.
Viera claimed the regional championship over Oviedo last week after defeating the Lions 2-1.
The Hawks will have a chance to clinch a state championship berth as they will play in the state semifinals on February 28.
The No. 1 seed Viera Hawks have a 16-1-1 overall record on the season.
How they got here:
■ The Hawks cruised past Lakeland 5-0 in the regional quarterfinals
■ In the regional semifinals Viera defeated West Boca Raton 5-2
■ Most recently, the Hawks clinched a State Semifinals berth after defeating Oviedo 2-1
The East Lake Eagles on the other hand are the no. 3 seed with a 16-2-4 record on the season.
