WATCH: Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV Swears In New Police Officer

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV swore in Cocoa’s newest police officer on Monday. Ivan Rodriguez took the Police Officer’s Oath in a special swearing-in ceremony.

The mayor and members of council, along with police department personnel were present to witness the ceremony.

Rodriguez is originally from Brooklyn, New York.

He grew up in both New York and Puerto Rico and has more than 30-years professional law enforcement experience. He spent 21-years with the FBI, served as a K-9 officer with U.S. Customs, served as an FBI supervisor in Puerto Rico, and in Wichita Kansas.

He obtained his Florida law enforcement certification through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and recertified in 2023.

Rodriguez is married with one daughter. Rodriguez will spend the next several months learning department policies and procedures.

He will also be paired with a field training officer to learn operational procedures before being deployed to solo patrol duties.
