WATCH: Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV Swears In New Police Officers

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV administered the Police Officers Oath to two new police officers Wednesday evening. Christian Pyne and Liam Corbley took the oath immediately following their graduation from the Law Enforcement Academy at Eastern Florida State College.

The two new officers are among five that will be sworn in during the next week.

Christian Pyne was born and raised in Palm Bay, Florida. He is the oldest of three children. He comes from a law enforcement family to include his mother, father, and step-father. He graduated from Bayside High School with his associate degree in May, 2022.

Liam Corbley is originally from San Diego, California. He grew up in New York. His dad served in the U.S. Navy. Corbley is the youngest of three brothers. He moved to Florida in 2022 where his mother has family.

Corbley served 4-years as an active duty combat medic for the U.S. Army from 2018-2022. He is currently serving as a reservist.

The officers will spend the next few months learning the department’s policies and procedures. They will also be paired with a field training officer where they will learn all operational procedures before being deployed to solo patrol duties.

On Monday, three additional officers will join the agency as open positions continue to get filled. “We are excited to have these new officers, and a steady flow of additional officers joining our ranks,” said Chief Evander Collier IV. “Training our next generation of law enforcement is one of our top mission objectives as we continue to move this agency forward.”
