WATCH: Alyssa Traina, the class valedictorian for Titusville High School, was selected 2022-2023 Breakfast of Champions Girls Scholar Athlete of the Year. The Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson talks with Traina about her time as a Terrier.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Alyssa Traina, the class valedictorian for Titusville High School, was selected 2022-2023 Breakfast of Champions Girls Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson talked with Traina about her time as a Terrier.

Traina, a volleyball player for THS, graduated with a 4.6 GPA and received the Florida Seal of Biliteracy Diploma and an Associate of Arts Degree from Eastern Florida State College.

Among her many awards and accolades, are the following: Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award; Titusville Chapter Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student Award; Titusville Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Adult Award; City of Titusville Student Award; THS Sunshine Scholars Nominee; Junior Nominee for THS Athletics Awards; Eastern Florida State College President’s List 2020-2023; Titusville High School Certificate of Honor Roll; and Freshman Volleyball Most Valuable Player Award.

While a student at THS, she was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honors Society, and National Honors Society. Traina was a former member of Student Government and Best Buddies. She also received the Scholar Athlete Award 2019-2022 for participation in volleyball.

Alyssa Traina, the class valedictorian for Titusville High School, was selected 2022-2023 Breakfast of Champions Girls Scholar Athlete of the Year and The Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson talked with Traina about her time as a Terrier. Traina volunteered as a THS teacher’s assistant for the spring 2022 semester for Mrs. Schmatolla and accumulated over 130 hours of volunteer service. She has also volunteered with the SPCA since 2020.

When asked about her dedication in the classroom, Traina told Wilson, “From the time I got into Titusville High School, I wanted to be the valedictorian, that was my goal.” She went on to say, “I committed to taking honors and advanced courses. I really wanted to focus on academics. I spent hours studying and I just really put in the work to get where I am.”

Traina is a “volleyball fanatic!” Her face lights up when she talks about volleyball. Traina said, “I love volleyball so very much, especially the program at THS.” She continued, “They make it extremely fun and the girls that I played with, I made life-long friends.”

Along with playing volleyball for the Terriers, Traina participated in club volleyball from 2018-2022. She has been team captain for each of her teams at Apogee Volleyball Club, Game Point Volleyball Club, and Indian River Elite Volleyball Club.

Traina has also worked at Indian River Elite Volleyball Club as a youth volleyball coach.

Alyssa Traina has graduated high school and is now on to the next chapter in her life. There is no doubt that she will be just as successful in the future as she has been in the past.
