BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This year’s 11th Annual Light Up Viera Holiday Parade, presented by the Viera Community Institute, will bring Sounds of the Season to spectators on Saturday, December 2.

Mindy Levy, iHeartRadio announcer of 99.3 FM, will return as the parade’s main emcee along with her co-announcer, Wingnut, from 95.1 FM.

The annual pre-parade fireworks display, scheduled at 6:00 p.m., will kick-off the holiday parade.

“The Light Up Viera Holiday Parade has grown to be such a wonderful event in the community. Many families include this event as part of their holiday traditions each year,” said Laurie Widzgowski, Marketing and Events Coordinator for The Viera Company. “It’s a perfect way to start the holiday season!”

Spectators can look forward to the return of new floatoon characters in the parade line up. A first for Viera and Brevard County, last year these professional parade balloons were introduced in the parade.

Along with the floatoons, spectators can look forward to decorated floats that will navigate their way through the parade route.

The parade will also have representatives from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Brevard County Fire Department, walking units from our local sports teams and dance groups, as well as professional entertainers to delight the attendees with their synchronized routines and swirling lights.

Five marching bands are returning this year representing Viera High School, Rockledge High School, Satellite High School, Merritt Island High School and Eau Gallie High School. The Viera Company, parade sponsor and master-plan developer for the community of Viera, will provide a generous donation to each high school that participates in the parade, with funds going toward their music programs.

Again this year, there will be two food truck locations: one next to Viera Charter School and the other next to Calvary Chapel Viera. Among the food trucks will be Cosmos Ice Cream truck serving the official Light Up Viera Holiday Parade flavor called ‘Lunar Light Up Surprise’, Espresso Yourself Mobile Coffee, Monsta Lobsta, DejaTea Boba ‘n Bites, Notorious Pig, Cajun Soul Bistro, Nomads Rolled Ice Cream, and more!

The parade is made of many sponsors, volunteers, and staff. There is still time to be a part of the event as a sponsor or volunteer by contacting events@viera.com.

“Events are a key ingredient to creating and fostering a sense of community and place that make a master planned community more than a collection of buildings,” said Scott Miller, President of the Viera Community Institute. “The Viera Company and the Viera Community Institute are exceptionally grateful to the staff, volunteers, and sponsors who bring these events to life and demonstrate their care and commitment to Viera through their time and effort.”

Saturday, December 2nd, Light Up Viera Parade:

4:00 p.m.: Guests arrive and enjoy entertainment, meet and greets, and delicious food.

6:00 p.m.: Fireworks display.

6:10 p.m.: Parade procession begins at Viera High School.
