Shaq to have jersey number retired after the game
WATCH: Pregame ahead of the TNT matchup between the Orlando Magic and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal is set to have his jersey retired tonight.
(NBA.COM) – The national spotlight will shine on Orlando on Tuesday night. and for good reason. The up-and-coming Orlando Magic (29-24) take the national stage against the second-best team in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder (36-17), at Kia Center at 7:30 p.m. ET – a game that will be broadcast on TNT.
But that’s not the only show in town. The Magic will also retire Shaquille O’Neal’s jersey upon the conclusion of the contest and place his No. 32 jersey permanently in Kia Center’s rafters.
“It is a bigger game, you are going to be on national TV, and it is the retirement of Shaq’s jersey,” said Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley.
“Those are all things (happening) in real-time. So, you address them, so the (team) can process it the right way and understand not to make the moment bigger than it is, but just realize that this is a moment. We still have to focus on the game. That’s the most important piece right now.”
