Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Yesterday morning, Corporal Jay Martinez & Corporal Miguel Melendez out of Crime Prevention Unit, and I all had the pleasure of starting our morning at H.C. Anderson Elementary School for one of my favorite community outreach programs, “Milk and Donuts With The Sheriff.”
I truly believe that having positive interaction and relationships with kids in our community is one of the most effective ways to make sure that we get to kids before they get to us.
Today’s kids are our future parents, teachers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, doctors, and community leaders who will make sure that Brevard County remains one of the best places in the country to call home!! And honestly, who doesn’t enjoy starting the morning with a few donuts.
Of course Junny is always the center of attention and the focus of many great questions from our students, and today was no different as he repeatedly started talking in the middle of our presentation!! Despite his repeated interruptions, this was a great time as we got some creative questions from the students, while also building new relationships.
Please join me in thanking the staff at Anderson Elementary for allowing us to spend time with their classes this morning, all of the students who attended the presentation, Krispy Kreme for making the Power Rings, our Crime Prevention Unit for joining me and always doing an amazing job with the community, and of course our teachers, who give everything they have each and every day to give our children the best education possible!!
