BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – I was extremely proud to partner with Florida’s Agriculture Commissioner, Wilton Simpson, this past Friday morning, as he put his seal on preventing children and pets from being left in hot cars.

At a press conference held at the Southeast Petro BP Station in Titusville, Commissioner Simpson rolled out the new Florida Agriculture Gas Pump Seal to stress the role parents and caregivers play in preventing vehicular heatstroke fatalities.

Florida currently leads the nation in child vehicular heatstroke fatalities, so to further drive home this critical message of never leaving children or pets inside of a hot vehicle, the new Agricultural Gas Pump Certification Seal now includes a constant reminder to not leave children and pets unattended in hot cars.

The new seal and public awareness campaign is part of Commissioner Simpson’s efforts to protect all of Florida’s citizens, including our pets!! While Florida leads the nation in so many incredible and positive things, it unfortunately also leads the nation in the most incidents of child and pet deaths from being left alone in hot vehicles.

While Senator Simpson credited me with the idea for the new Public Service Awareness Campaign, it was Commissioner Simpson who championed the initiative and made the concept a reality by making certain that Florida’s citizens and visitors will now see the constant reminder to never leave children and pets unattended in a hot car, at more than 75,000 gas pumps throughout the state of Florida.

My idea for the concept came one day while I was getting fuel at a local station and thought about the ability for Commissioner Simpson to consistently message the reminder through his certification seal on every gas pump in Florida.

This initiative and effort is a constant reminder to everyone about the hazards of vehicular heatstroke fatalities and how one simple action can save lives!!

On behalf of all his furry friends, Junny and I would like to personally thank Commissioner Simpson and his staff for quickly making this Public Service Announcement a reality and also Summit Shah and his entire family at Southeast Petro for allowing us to place the very first sticker in the state of Florida on one of our pumps here in Brevard County.
