BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Marem Ndiongue of the Florida Tech women’s soccer team has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Panther’s 2-0 start to the season.

This is Ndiongue’s first time receiving the award this season and the first of her career.

Florida Tech posted a 2-0 week with back-to-back shutout wins over Auburn-Montgomery, 4-0, and Union, 3-0.

On the road at AUM, Ndiongue tallied an assist on the first Panther goal of the year by Halla Helgadottir in the 30th minute of the match. Less than 10 minutes later, she found the back of the net to give Tech a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Against Union, Ndiongue put the Panthers on the board with a penalty kick in the 26th minute. In the second half, the Italian product put the game away after she fielded a perfect pass in the box and chipped her shot over the Union keeper to give the match its final score of 3-0.

Ndiongue’s three goals and one assist this week also placed her into the Panther’s record book.

She now has 38 career points from 14 goals and 10 assists with Tech. Her 38 points move her into 10th all-time in program history, her 14 goals put her in a tie for 10th all-time with Therese Svensson (’09), and her 10 assists put her in a tie with three others for sixth all-time.

Florida Tech is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 6 when the team takes on Palm Beach Atlantic in an out-of-conference road matchup. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla.
