Florida Tech Swimmer Akos Hajagos Named to All-SSC First Team

Akos now prepares for Swimming, Diving Championships starting March 12

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference announced its all-conference honorees for men’s swimming on Thursday afternoon in a release by the conference office.

Twenty-four scholar-athletes have been selected to the 2023-24 All-SSC Men’s Swimming Team. Voting for the team was conducted among the Sunshine State Conference men’s swimming coaches.

Freshman Akos Hajagos of Budapest, Hungary earned First-Team All-SSC after having scored the seventh most points of any individual swimmer at this year’s SSC Championships held In Ocala, Fla.

Akos scored a total of 58 points for the Panthers having placed silver medals earning 17 points each in the men’s 200 Butterfly (1:46.68) and the men’s 400 Individual Medley (3:53.63), earned 13 points for placing sixth in the men’s 200 IM and finally added 11 Points to the Panthers final team score of 356 points at the SSC Championships.

He also helped Tech’s 200 Free Relay team of himself, Luke Altmann, Max Martino, and Matteo Caruso earn Bronze (1:22.13).

Along with his two individual medals, he has also broken three program records in only his first with the Panthers, setting the fastest times in the 200 IM (1:49.56), 400 IM (3:53.63), and 200 Fly (1:46.68). All three times were set at this year SSC’s.

Hajagos will now turn his attention towards the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships where he will be one of two swimmers representing Florida Tech at NCAA’s Hajagos will be swimming in the men’s 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 Fly in hopes of earning All-American Status.

The 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will take place at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio from March 12th – March 16th.
