Lecture and Award Presentation to Honor Florida Tech’s Astronaut Scholars Feb. 1, NASA Astronaut Chris Ferguson to Keynote

Come honor Florida Tech’s 2024 Astronaut Scholars on Thursday, Feb. 1, and listen to NASA Astronaut Chris Ferguson’s lecture, “Impacts and Challenges of Commercial Human Spaceflight.” The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Denius Student Center, Hartley Room, on the campus of Florida Tech. Guests are invited to stay after the presentation and awards for light refreshments and a chance to meet Mr. Ferguson. This event is free and open to the public.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIA – Come honor Florida Tech’s 2024 Astronaut Scholars on Thursday, Feb. 1, and listen to NASA Astronaut Chris Ferguson’s lecture, “Impacts and Challenges of Commercial Human Spaceflight.”

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Denius Student Center, Hartley Room, on the campus of Florida Tech.

Ferguson is a revered American astronaut and former naval aviator. Joining NASA in 1998, he embarked on his space odyssey as pilot for STS-115, contributing to the International Space Station’s assembly.

As the commander of STS-126 in 2008, he enhanced the ISS’s living quarters. Leading the historic final Space Shuttle mission, STS-135, in July 2011, Ferguson’s legacy includes three shuttle flights, 40 days in space, and a profound impact on space exploration.

His dedication continues to inspire future astronauts and space enthusiasts alike.

Guests are invited to stay after the presentation and awards for light refreshments and a chance to meet Mr. Ferguson. This event is free and open to the public.
