BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The nonprofit organization New Life Mission will celebrate its 15th anniversary during the annual Community Care & Share luncheon fundraiser on April 18 and 19 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place.

Guests are invited to attend either Thursday, April 18, or Friday, April 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and can register by emailing CCS@NewLife-Mission.org.

There is no cost to attend, and guests will be asked to donate.

During the luncheon, attendees will learn about the history of New Life Mission, formerly Brevard Rescue Mission, and the impact the organization has had on transforming the lives of homeless women with children over the last 15 years.

They will also learn about upcoming campus tours, volunteer opportunities, and other ways to become involved.

“Our mission started in 2009 with a few apartment units and today we have four campuses in Melbourne with capacity to serve 30 families in our program and another 8 in affordable graduate housing,” said CEO Amy Lyon.

“It’s incredible to watch a mom go from living in her car to working a full-time job with a livable wage and providing for her family.”

“Our mission started in 2009 with a few apartment units and today we have four campuses in Melbourne with capacity to serve 30 families in our program and another eight in affordable graduate housing,” said CEO Amy Lyon.

New Life Mission opened its fourth campus, New Life Village, last spring on the site of the former Hacienda Girls Ranch in Melbourne.

The expansion not only opened the door to serve more families, but also prompted the organization to launch its own full-time childcare center called Kids Academy and expand the Transformed Shop sewing center.

“It takes a village to keep our doors open and community support is the lifeblood of our organization,” said Lyon.

“We are always looking for individuals and groups to help in our Kids Academy, in our Transformed Shop, and with our facilities team.”

While in the program, families reside at one of New Life Mission’s four campuses for 1-2 years while they receive one-on-one case management, mental health counseling, financial coaching, life skills classes, and educational and career guidance.

Upon successful completion of the program, they have the opportunity to apply for affordable graduate housing. Because New Life Mission teaches families how to live self-sufficiently without government assistance, the organization models that principle by not utilizing government funding.

“We rely solely on donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and grants to assist families in transforming their lives,” said Lyon. “Our Community Care and Share fundraiser supplies one-third of the funds we need to keep remain on the frontlines for the women and children who need us.”
