BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized longtime volunteer Mark Maynard with this month’s VCOP Spotlight.

Maynard started volunteering at the Palm Bay Police Department in 2020.

After assisting the police department in resolving an ongoing criminal issue in his residential development, he realized the VCOP program was looking for volunteers.

Along with patrol duties, Mark is also a part of the VERT team (Volunteer Emergency Response Team) having previously been involved in his local fire department in New York.

Married for 45 years, Mark’s wife devotes her time to the family: their son is a director of SATCOM, their daughter a veterinarian, and their daughter-in-law an MD. Mark retired after 25 years as an electrical engineer doing design work for General Motors.

An avid outdoorsman, scuba diver, and pilot (of an acrobatic plane and a WWII trainer), Mark also enjoys the comradery of like-minded, yet diverse, volunteers in the VCOP program and sharing life experiences with fascinating people.

If you would like to be a VCOP like Mark, contact 321-953-8987.
