BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 15th episode of “Space Coast Daily Sports Talk” with Juan Rodriguez and Zach Clark features members of the 2023 State Championship Cocoa Tigers football team at the Friday Night Locker Room Erdman Automotive TV Studios in Cocoa.
The Cocoa Tigers finished the 2023 season 14-1 overall and claimed their sixth state championship in program history, their second title under head coach Ryan Schneider after defeating the Bradford Tornadoes 20-6 in Tallahassee.
“It’s a special feeling, feels pretty good to be a State Champion”, said Cocoa QB Brady Hart when asked how it felt coming off a State Championship victory last week.
Sophomore 3-star Quarterback Brady Hart loaded up the stat sheet with a 67% completion percentage, 3,760 passing yards, and 41 touchdowns in his first season with Cocoa.
“We put in the hard work through the summer and the spring, fought through adversity, and made it happen,” said Ohio State commit wide receiver Jayvan Boggs when asked how it felt winning back-to-back state titles.
Class of 2025 4-star wideout Jayvan Boggs finished the season with 86 receptions, 1,504 yards and 24 touchdowns. Boggs announced his commitment to play college football at Ohio State University back in October.
Cocoa Tiger FHSAA Class 2S State Championship recap:
The Tigers scored 20 unanswered points after trailing 6-0 early in the first quarter. Cocoa made plays on all three levels. Wide receiver Nicholas Teeter and running back Latrison Lane each scored a touchdown.
On defense, linebacker Davi’yon Hawkins-Ingram had a sack along with a forced fumble that was recovered by linebacker Samadrae Hawkins. On special teams, kicker Gunnar Trout connected on two 25-yard field goals.
