BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Ralph Williams Elementary School and the Cocoa-Rockledge Garden Club observed Florida Arbor Day through a ceremonious planting of a hickory tree on the school premises.
This event concurrently marked the 100th anniversary of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC), elevating its significance.
The ceremony began with informative discourse, featuring presentations on Arbor Day and arboreal subjects, alongside a respectful acknowledgment of the FFGC’s century-long legacy. Attendees were also treated to a poem and song dedicated to Arbor Day.
Mayor Thomas Price of Rockledge made a noteworthy appearance, highlighting the community’s endorsement of this collaborative event.
At the end of the ceremony, students from each attending class participated in the ceremonial act of enveloping the newly planted hickory tree with many gestures emblematic of their commitment to fostering the tree’s robust growth and vitality.
