Melbourne Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a fatal shooting killed a 16-year-old Wednesday night on Xavier Dr. and Marshall Ave.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a fatal shooting killed a 16-year-old Wednesday night on Xavier Dr. and Marshall Ave.

Police say at approximately 6:52 pm, officers responded to a call of shots fired at Xavier Dr/Marshall Ave. Officers arrived at the scene and did not find a victim but did find multiple spent casings and other items of evidence.

At 7:00 pm, a 16-year-old arrived at Holmes Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds. He was rushed inside the emergency department; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s identification is being withheld awaiting the notification to his parent who is currently out of the county.

Detectives have not found any additional victims at this time.

Detectives are currently investigating this incident along with other recent shootings to determine if they are connected.
