BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While on just about any given night you can turn on the news and see all the doom and gloom you want what you rarely see are the amazing things our first responders do behind the scenes to make a difference in someone’s or something’s life.

You know, stuff like what happened on Monday, November 4th when Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Deputies teamed up with our partners from Brevard County Fire Rescue to save a kitten that had unfortunately gotten stuck in the engine area of an employees vehicle.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Port St. John and for the record I can’t blame the kitten for trying to get a ride there as who doesn’t love their chicken!!

Well regardless, while hitching a ride in one of KFC’s employees car, the kitten got stuck in the under carriage of the vehicle and couldn’t get out.

After a call came in to our Communications Center, our Deputies and an Animal Enforcement Officer responded to the scene and went to work trying to free the kitten from the car. After calling in backup from our partners at BCFR Engine 26 and some minor removal of some under carriage protection the team was able to free the kitten and get him safely to our Animal Care Center for treatment and care.

If I’m a betting man, my guess would be that the kitten is now called “Colonel” and he can’t wait to get back to KFC one day.

I could not be more proud of our team and our partners at BCFR for all they do each and every day to protect every one and every thing in this community!! No matter what the call or assignment is our two agencies always partner together to make sure that everyone in Brevard County is safe and sound.

Regardless if its a critical incident, a kitten rescue, or partnering together on charity events BCSO and BCFR get it done.

Now that’s “The Good Stuff!!”
