BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department recently held its annual 2023 Awards Ceremony at the Indian River Preserve Golf Club in Mims. Officer Dakota Jones was named Officer of the Year.
The 2023 Award Winners were selected by a diverse committee of department members that reviewed numerous nominations submitted by police department team members.
The Titusville Police Department’s 2023 Award Winners are as follows:
■ Officer of the Year, Officer Dakota Jones
■ Detective of the Year, Detective Kenny Nelson
■ Supervisor of the Year, Sergeant Lauren Watson
■ School Resource Officer of the Year, Officer Amber Hartselle
■ 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator of the Year, 911 PST Hunter Andrews
■ Civilian Employee of the Year, Code Enforcement Specialist Megan Laurencio
■ Jack H. Schnell Traffic Safety Officer of the Year, Officer Matthew Rasmussen
■ Outstanding Rookie of the Year, Officer Oscar Williams
■ School Crossing Guard of the Year, Dale Wood
■ Volunteer of the Year, Lorraine Merchant
■ Community Watch Volunteer of the Year, Dennis Motyka
Barry Shepherd, President and CEO of the American Police Hall of Fame received special business recognition and appreciation on behalf of their continued support and partnership with our department and the community we serve.
In addition, Titusville Police Department Officer of the Year recipient, Dakota Jones will be recognized in late April at the Brevard County Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Awards Banquet.
