BE-4 is most powerful liquefied natural gas fueled rocket engine ever developed

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Aerospace Company, Blue Origin recently completed their first-ever next generation BE-4 hotfire engine test, at Marshall Space Flight Center’s historic Test Stand 4670 in Huntsville, Alabama. The BE-4 engine produces 550,000 pounds of thrust and is their most powerful engine to date.

According to Blue Origin, the “BE-4 is the most powerful liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled rocket engine ever developed. Using an oxygen-rich staged combustion cycle, BE-4 is capable of producing 2,400 kN (550,000 lbf) thrust with deep throttle capability.”

BE-4 engines are built at the Blue Origin plant in Huntsville, and are used on the new ULA Vulcan rocket, which is built in Decatur, Alabama.
