WATCH: Wednesday, June 28, a historic display was dedicated at the Maritime Center at Port Canaveral in memory of the late Captain Ed Lanni.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A historic display was dedicated at the Maritime Center at Port Canaveral in memory of the late Captain Ed Lanni.

Family and honored guests were addressed by Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray, Port Commissioner Wayne Justice, Port Canaveral Harbor Pilot Richard Grimison and Vice President of Ivey’s Construction Rocky Johnson.

Captain Ed, as he was fondly known, ended his Merchant Marine career with an astounding 56 years of service.

When describing Captain Ed’s career, Commissioner Justice said, “He sailed on 43 different ships with more than 40 years at sea.” He was master of 13 different vessels over a period of approximately 16 years.
