Jennifer Gonzalez talks with Steve Wilson of the Friday Night Locker Room
WATCH: Jennifer Gonzalez, the principal of Titusville High School, has been selected as the 2023 Breakfast of Champions Administrator of the Year. She recently sat down with Steve Wilson and talked about her background, her time in the education field and much more in this exclusive interview.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jennifer Gonzalez, the principal of Titusville High School, has been selected as the 2023 Breakfast of Champions Administrator of the Year. She recently sat down with me and talked about her background, her time in the education field and much more in this exclusive interview.
Gonzalez has served in her current position since 2019 and and has served Brevard Public Schools for the last 19 years.
Gonzalez earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from American College of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She began her career teaching English at Palm Bay High School and also taught English and Spanish at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School.
I asked Gonzalez if she enjoyed her time in the classroom and she said, “I loved my time in the classroom. I still miss it.” Although she told me she loves her current job, she said, “There is nothing like being in your own classroom and bonding with the students. I definitely enjoyed that.”
After spending time in the classroom, she became a Guidance Services Professional/Testing Coordinator.
Gonzalez has coached JV and Varsity Cheerleading and sponsored a student-led Writing Club.
She is not new as an administrator, having spent eight years as an assistant principal at Viera High School before making her way to THS.
Prior to being selected as principal, she served time as assistant principal of curriculum.
Gonzalez has a special message for her students: No matter what career path you choose, people are what matter the most. You can have all of the skills and knowledge in the world and still have nothing if you don’t have relationships. Always be kind and put people first.
