BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — The Avenue Viera will host the 14th annual St. Baldrick’s Big Shave event on March 9 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer and donor-powered charity committed to raising donations and supporting research to finding cures for pediatric cancer.

“Our center is committed to supporting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and their mission to conquer pediatric cancer through research and donations,” said Daisy Pickett, marketing manager for The Avenue Viera.

“This event is beloved by the community and we hope to make a big impact this year to drive visibility, awareness and donations for this meaningful cause.”

The St. Baldrick’s Big Shave is a family-friendly event with an expected crowd of 2,000 people throughout the day. Six to 10 hair stylists will be on site to rotate and help shave the heads of an expected 100-300 people.

The event will also feature a bagpipe entry parade walk, a knighting ceremony for kids, music, face painting, balloons, refreshments and food from local restaurants.

“It’s great to have our 14th year and we’re hopeful this year’s event will help us to reach our goal to support those with pediatric cancer,” said Tom Neidert, event coordinator for The St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with The Avenue Viera once again to host the largest St. Baldrick event in Florida.”

Volunteers are required to raise a minimum of $100 to be eligible to shave their head. Funds can be raised in advance of the event individually or with a team, or donations can be collected on-site to participate.

There will also be a competition between the local fire and police departments to see who can raise the most money for the foundation.
