Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Suspect for Stolen Motorcycle

Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

While the old saying “sly like a fox” might be true in most cases, it certainly does not apply to John Fox, who yesterday morning thought he was being sly when he was out for a casual ride on a stolen motorcycle and  Deputy Jason Lewis attempted to stop him for having the license plate bent up and out of view. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – While the old saying “sly like a fox” might be true in most cases, it certainly does not apply to John Fox, who yesterday morning thought he was being sly when he was out for a casual ride on a stolen motorcycle and  Deputy Jason Lewis attempted to stop him for having the license plate bent up and out of view.

Now you might wonder…why on earth would anyone bend their license plate so it couldn’t be read, but in our line of work that’s called a clue and Deputy Lewis picked up on it.

As Deputy Lewis initiated a traffic stop, Fox decided to take off at a high rate of speed and boy did things take off from there as Fox apparently didn’t get the memo that if you run from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office you’re only going to go to jail tired.

As you might imagine, within just a short period of time, our friends in our shiny green and gold helicopter were able to quickly locate the motorcycle as it attempted to make it’s way down a dirt road into the area commonly referred to as the “Black Hole.”

STAR eventually lost sight of Fox and the motorcycle in the thick trees, but were able to direct our ground units to the area where they lost sight of Fox so that Deputies could quickly arrive on scene and search the area on foot.

As a result, Deputy Lewis and Deputy Nate Kirk followed motorcycle tire tracks at the scene and subsequently located Fox who I guess wanted to prove he was not very smart because he began approaching our Deputies with a knife in his hand.

Of course, Fox was given the only chance he was going to get to drop the weapon and get on the ground, which he very wisely did.

Fox was taken into custody and was actually in possession of a backpack that contained his Department of Corrections Inmate ID, along with 7 grams of Fentanyl and 3 grams of methamphetamine.

Why am I not surprised that this guy has been to prison before and is now back out on our streets where he can push drugs and continue to break the law.

Oh well, in the end our team checked availability at “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” and found a reservation in the name of John Fox for Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Felonly Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Eluding, and last but not least, a warrant for Violation of Probation!! Wow…there’s a shocker.

Remember folks, this is Brevard County and all you have to do is “Mess Around and Found Out” to see that we are tough on crime and even tougher on criminals.
