BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – For every five technical or skilled trades workers who retire, only two replace them. Cocoa Beach Elks Lodge #2387 members who have come from technical and trades careers, and many others, realize there is and will be a critical shortage of these essential skilled workers going forward.

The Cocoa Beach Elks Lodge is kicking off a grassroots effort to support Technical and Vocational Trades education and career development through scholarships for local high school seniors.

This effort is welcomed by Cocoa Beach High School and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department of the Brevard Public Schools.

These scholarships will help provide a career path for college, or an alternative to college, for students who have other interests or don’t have the financial resources to attend a traditional college. The CTE scholarships will be awarded at the end of the 2023/2024 school year.

Funding will be provided through the donations of individual Elks members. This scholarship program may be the first in the nation provided by an Elks lodge.
