Cocoa Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison After 2019 Murder on Prospect Avenue

A 29-year-old Cocoa man will spend the next 25-years in prison for the 2019 murder of a 19-year-old man.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A 29-year-old Cocoa man will spend the next 25-years in prison for the 2019 murder of a 19-year-old man.

Terrell Isom, 29, was sentenced to prison after a plea agreement.

The judge sentenced Isom in November, 2023 for 2nd degree murder, and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. Isom was sentenced to 25-years prison for each charge, but the sentences will run concurrently.

On December 14, 2019, Cocoa Police responded to a shooting in the area of Prospect Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and a woman screaming for help.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg, and a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Both victims were taken to the hospital.

The man, identified as De’Marvis Lewis, 19, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman, who was 22-years-old at the time of the incident, eventually recovered.

The investigation revealed, Isom shot both victims. He has been transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

He is not eligible for release until 2044.
