BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Rockledge Raiders star athlete Jaylen ‘AP’ Heyward officially signed his Letter of Intent to play for the UCF Knights on Wednesday.
- Played cornerback, running back and wide receiver at Rockledge High School in Rockledge, Florida
- Rated four-star prospect by Rivals, On3 and ESPN
- Rated 10th safety nationally by ESPN and listed 130th on ESPN 300 chart
- Rated 30th among Florida players by Rivals
- Made 22 tackles and two INTs; recovered three fumbles and caused three fumbles as senior in 2023
- Rushed 34 times for 313 yards and one TD and caught 10 passes for 118 and two TDs in 2023
- Helped Rockledge to second round of 2023 Florida 3S playoffs
- Chosen to 2023 All-District 12 team at defensive back by Brevard County coaches
- Totaled 44 tackles, eight PBU, three forced fumbles and two INTs on defense as junior in 2022
- Rushed 42 times for 350 yards and two touchdowns in 2022, totaling season-high 146 yards against Eau Gallie
- Helped Rockledge to 9-3 mark and second round of 2022 Florida 3S playoffs
- Honorable mention defensive back on 2022 Florida 3S all-state team by FloridaHSfootball.com
- All-Cape Coast Conference pick in 2022
- Named to 247Sports All-Combine Team at National Combine in January 2023
- Earned snaps on both sides of ball in 2021 for Raiders squad that competed in Florida 5A class, racking up 35 tackles, six PBU and three INTs
- State qualifier as sophomore in 100-meter dash and part of 4×100 team that won silver at Florida 3A meet
- Posted 100-meter time of 10.68 and went 22.07 in 200 meters
- High school teammate of fellow UCF letter-of-intent signee DJ McCormick
- Expects to enroll at UCF in January 2024 and participate in 2024 Knight spring football drills
