BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Rockledge Raiders linebacker Derrick ‘DJ’ McCormick officially signed his Letter of Intent to play for the UCF Knights on Wednesday.
The Rockledge defensive star had a great 2022 season, he was credited with 119 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions, and 2 sacks.
McCormick Jr. had over 20 FBS offers.
He chose UCF over programs such as USF, Indiana, and West Virginia to name a few.
- Played linebacker for Rockledge High School in Rockledge, Florida
- Finished prep career with 318 tackles and nine INTs
- Accounted for 114 tackles, 2.5 sacks for 13 yards, three fumbles caused and one INT as senior in 2023
- Helped Rockledge to second round of 2023 Florida 3S playoffs
- Chosen to 2023 All-District 12 team at linebacker by Brevard County coaches
- Credited with 119 tackles, four forced fumbles, three INTs, three PBU, three fumble recoveries and two sacks as junior in 2022
- Helped Rockledge go 9-3 and win district title in Florida 3S classification
- All-Cape Coast Conference pick in 2022
- As sophomore in 2021 totaled 97 tackles, five INTs, two sacks for Raiders
- High school teammate of fellow UCF letter-of-intent signee Jaylen Heyward
- Expects to enroll at UCF in January 2024 and participate in 2024 Knight spring football drills
