BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – May Tourist Development Tax (TDT) has come in at $1.945 million – down 1.7% from last year’s $1.979 million. This did beat the 2021 number, which was $1.653 million.

Year to date, we are at $17.962 million which is r’s previous high of $15.598 million.

This ends the streak of 25 “best month for that month” records.  We think that we will continue to see some headwinds and it may be harder to beat the previous summer months as last summer was very strong, but it will be close.

Looking at TDT by type, hotels represented 68% of the total for the month (up from 66% last month) and vacation rentals were at 31% of TDT (down slightly from 32% last month).

Regarding hotel/motel revenue by city, Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral were at 34% and Melbourne and the Beaches were at 28% as a percentage of the total (similar to last month).

Looking ahead to June, we believe we are tracking to be right on pace with last year’s high of $2.45 million so it will come down to the wire to see if we can beat that.
