Jose Maldonad transported to 'Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge' where he was held on a No Bond status

**SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY:** Deputies responded to a local bar in Malabar where a subject was threatening the bar patrons and staff with a gun and had even pointed the gun at one of the employees head. As Deputies arrived on scene they quickly identified Jose Maldonado, above left, as the subject with the gun and took him into custody. After being taken into custody, Maldonado was transported to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” where he was held on a “No Bond” status for Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon and Battery. (BCSO images)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – When I was a kid growing up in north Florida my father always told me that “if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes!

Well apparently Jose Maldonado never got that great piece of advice as last night he was not only playing a stupid game but also a very dangerous one. A game that one day, he will play with the wrong person who exercises their 2nd Amendment right and puts an end to his crap.

You see, last night our Deputies responded to a local bar in Malabar where a subject was threatening the bar patrons and staff with a gun and had even pointed the gun at one of the employees head. As Deputies arrived on scene they quickly identified Jose Maldonado as the subject with the gun and took him into custody.

Now here is where we find out just how stupid a game Maldonado was playing as the gun he had tucked in his waistband and had used in his assaults was a “Byrna Gun!!” A “Byrna Gun” is a co2 powered gun that fires 68 caliber chemical irritant projectiles filled with a highly potent cocktail of pepper spray.

That’s right, this guy was in Brevard County waving around a pepper spray gun that as you can see looks like a real gun.

Apparently he has never heard the song “Try That In A Small Town” because one day he will pull that crap on someone who brought a real gun to a gun fight and things won’t go so well for him.

Well thankfully, Deputy Alexander Campagnone and other members of our team were able to quickly respond to the scene and took Maldonado into custody before someone turned him into a chalk line in a crime scene.

As it turns out, Maldonado had not only threatened bar patrons with the gun, but had also threatened the manager and when an employee intervened, Maldonado pistol whipped him and then put the weapon to his head.

After being taken into custody, Maldonado was transported to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” where he was held on a “No Bond” status for Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon and Battery.

Great Job Deputy Campagnone and everyone involved in getting this guy behind bars where he belongs!
